By Jeff & Lane Morrell · eXp Realty
This is our October 29, 2026 update for residents and prospective buyers following life in Woodmoor and Monument, Colorado. With five days to go before Election Day, this week we cover the Monument 2040 adoption vote and the first Transportation Master Plan open house, both landing Monday, Nov. 2, the election itself on Nov. 3, Veterans Day on Nov. 11, the Woodmoor Improvement Association board's Oct. 28 meeting, a brand-new restaurant on Baptist Road, the holiday season starting Nov. 6, and where the Woodmoor market stands at the very end of October. Every fact below comes from a public source we link to, so you can plan with confidence. Missed the latest editions? Catch up with our October 26 update, our October 22 update, and our October 19 edition.
A New Spot to Eat: Kabab & Curry Opens on Baptist Road
The freshest local news around Monument this week is a table you can actually book. The Monument Independent reported Oct. 27 that Kabab & Curry, a new Indian and Pakistani restaurant, has opened with nine tables on West Baptist Road in Monument, bringing grilled kebabs, curries, and flatbread cooking to the north side of town. It is a welcome addition for Woodmoor residents who have watched Baptist Road's restaurant row fill in, and an easy stop on the way home from the Air Force Academy or I-25. For buyers scouting the area, it is one more sign that Monument keeps adding walk-to dinner options without losing its small-town feel.
Monday, Nov. 2: The Monument 2040 Vote and a Transportation Open House
The Town Council meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2 at Town Hall (645 Beacon Lite Road) with the adoption vote on the Monument 2040 Comprehensive Plan and its companion Downtown Master Plan on the agenda. The Planning Commission forwarded both documents to the council with conditions by a 6-0 vote at its Oct. 14 hearing, and updated drafts are posted on the town's planning page, the Comprehensive Plan dated Nov. 2 and the Downtown Master Plan dated Oct. 8, per The Monument Independent. The plan, prepared with The Lakota Group from engagement that began in 2025, will guide growth, housing, and downtown character for the next 20 years.
The same day, the Planning Department hosts Public Open House #1 for the new Transportation Master Plan, developed jointly with the TriView Metro District, with the town's plan website posted Oct. 16. Roads, trails, and mobility around Monument for the next two decades are on the table, so it is worth a stop if you can make either meeting. The council's next regular meeting following Nov. 2 falls on Monday, Nov. 16 under the first-and-third-Monday schedule, with agendas on the town's CivicClerk portal.
Tuesday, Nov. 3: Election Day Is Five Days Away
Monument's municipal election closes Tuesday, Nov. 3, coordinated with El Paso County. Five council seats are on the ballot, including the mayor, two at-large seats, and the District 1 and District 2 seats, and voters are also deciding the construction-materials use-tax measure that would raise the town's rate from 2% to 3.5%, projected to generate about $2.27 million a year for stormwater, streets, bridges, and sidewalks. The candidate lineup and measure details are in our October 19 update; ballots are already in voters' hands, and the town's elections page has drop-off and polling details.
Around Woodmoor: The WIA Board Met Wednesday Evening
The Woodmoor Improvement Association board held its October meeting Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Woodmoor Barn Community Center, 1691 Woodmoor Dr., per the WIA events calendar. Meeting summaries typically appear in the monthly newsletter and in Our Community News' coverage, so residents who missed it can follow the recap in the November issue. For context on where the board stood entering the meeting: at its Sept. 23 session, reported by OCN, it declined an open-space offer tied to the Northbay development at the north end of Lake Woodmoor, approved an updated Project Design Standards Manual, and heard the latest on Force Broadband's fiber-optic build-out through the community's open spaces. Around the neighborhood, the WIA also notes the Deer Creek Road Project has been under way since Sept. 28, so give construction crews space on that corridor.
Veterans Week and Veterans Day: Nov. 2-6 and Nov. 11
The town council proclaimed the week of Nov. 2-6 as National Veterans Small Business Week, a fitting lead-in to Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The area's veterans organization is American Legion TriLakes Post 9-11 at 300 Highway 105 in Monument, which hosts the region's ceremonies and monthly meetings, per its events page. With the post's November observance details typically posted closer to the date, the town and the Tri-Lakes Chamber are also good places to confirm plans. For families with a service member or veteran, it is a chance to mark the day where the community has honored them for years.
The Holiday Season Starts Friday, Nov. 6
Monument turns from Halloween to the holidays almost overnight. Downtown businesses kick off the season with the Holiday Open House on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-7, and Encore Community Arts presents Disney's "101 Dalmatians Kids" Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1 and 4 p.m., per the Our Community News calendar. The Tri-Lakes Chamber runs its Education Series Nov. 10 on "Make Your Tax Status Work for You," its Business After Hours Non-Profit Showcase Nov. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Tri-Lakes YMCA (17250 Jackson Creek Parkway), and its networking breakfast Nov. 19 featuring Amber Jack of Edward Jones.
Then Woodmoor's own centerpiece returns right before Thanksgiving: the Joys of the Season Holiday Home Tour, the sixth annual tour presented by the Tri-Lakes Women's Club, runs Friday, Nov. 20 and Saturday, Nov. 21 with five professionally decorated homes. Tickets are $30, valid either day, available online or at the Hospitality House at the Woodmoor Barn Community Center, which also hosts the club's holiday gift shoppe; proceeds fund the club's Community Grants Program. The season peaks with the Monument Tree Lighting Saturday, Dec. 5 at Limbach Park: festivities begin at 2 p.m., performers take the stage at 3 p.m., and Santa lights the trees to close the evening. And for families who want to give back before the gifts, Tri-Lakes Cares has its holiday programs lineup posted for the season, from food assistance to its annual giving drives.
Schools: D38, the Ballot, and Building Momentum
Lewis-Palmer District 38 families have two statewide education measures to weigh before Nov. 3. The Board of Education was briefed Oct. 20 on Amendment 87 and Proposition NN, the education measures on the November ballot, per The Gazette's Tri-Lakes Tribune. Meanwhile the district's building boom continues: Monument Academy, D38's K-12 charter, broke ground Oct. 20 on its new $17 million performing arts center at its east campus near CO 83 and CO 105, and the district's new Home School Enrichment Academy building is serving homeschool K-12 families this school year. The district's official 2026-27 calendar is the place to check November conference and Thanksgiving break dates, which vary from the old pattern.
Late-October Walks Before the Snow Settles In
A dusting of snow has followed the golden aspens through Woodmoor this week, and the trails are beautiful right now. The Santa Fe Trailhead at 3rd Street offers parking and picnic tables with direct access to the Santa Fe Trail, the Monument Preserve on Schilling Avenue threads trails through ponderosa pine forest, and the roughly 17.9-mile New Santa Fe Regional Trail runs from Greenland Open Space near Larkspur to the Edmondson Trailhead in Colorado Springs. Fox Run Regional Park's trails around Aspen Lake are a short drive away and add an easy loop for smaller legs.
As the snow line drops, ski season moves in close to home: Woodmoor Nordic promotes cross-country ski trails on The Country Club at Woodmoor grounds each winter, with day passes sold at the club's Fitness/Tennis Center. For dining and coffee nearby, Goat Patch Brewing Monument at 1756 Lake Woodmoor Drive remains the neighborhood gathering spot, joined by Wesley Owens Coffee at 1744 Lake Woodmoor Drive and, downtown, Coffee Cup Cafe at 251 Front Street and Arlene's Beans at 366 2nd Street.
Monument Market Snapshot: End of October 2026
Monument's market closes October with far more choice than a year ago, and no single source paints the whole picture. Kenna Real Estate, reporting Oct. 10, counts 284 active MLS listings at a $750,000 median list price, with single-family homes at $795,000. In ZIP 80132, the median sold price ran about $779,100 in September, down 1.6% from a year earlier, while the for-sale count is up about 58% year over year to roughly 1,067 homes, per RealtyTrac. Redfin shows a rolling three-month median sale price of about $750,000, up 2.6% year over year, with homes selling in roughly 44 days, while the Colorado Association of REALTORS reported a 50-day median for El Paso County in September.
The through-line across every source: more inventory, prices roughly flat to down, and longer days on market than the 2022-2023 peak, a market that rewards patient, well-prepared buyers. Woodmoor proper carries its own, generally higher numbers, which we detailed in our October 22 update. For context, 830 Lake Woodmoor is listed at $975,000 after a price improvement from $997,000, an example of the value available at Woodmoor's upper end with unobstructed Pikes Peak views.
Market figures are drawn from the public sources linked in this post and change frequently. Contact Jeff and Lane for a current, property-specific analysis of the Woodmoor market.
